Big Battery Hunt

Posted on 9th January, 2018

Following the success of last year’s trial, BatteryBack and Duracell are now working on The Big Battery Hunt for 2018.

This will involve over half a million primary school pupils collecting used batteries using a purpose designed box, with those collecting the most winning prizes such as Duracell bunnies. Schools are being recruited now and batteries will then be collected by pupils over the Easter holidays.

Supporting information on battery recycling is being provided for teachers, including materials to deliver a school assembly. Schools are being supplied with 30 litre battery containers by BatteryBack and Halifax.

David Reynolds, Technical Director of WasteCare commented, “We are very excited to be embarking on a much larger project with our partner, Duracell. Hopefully, we can utilise the “Pester Power” of the younger generation to increase the levels of used batteries collected for recycling in the UK which still fall short of many of our European neighbours.”
