Brexit ready?

Posted on 4th February, 2019

Uncertainty over what happens on the 29th March is reaching fever pitch. Are we going to be out without a deal, working to a revised version of the existing draft on the table or simply kicking the decision down the road, no one knows.

For the waste sector there are additional concerns. For too long, the UK has been dependent on shipping RDF and other waste streams to mainland Europe and further afield for treatment and recovery. This has resulted in a lack of investment in homegrown recovery routes and now we have good reason to feel somewhat vulnerable.

WasteCare have always, where practicable, avoided the export of waste. Last week’s purchase of the East Kent High Temperature Incinerator helps to process and recover the most hazardous waste streams. Without predicting the unknown we believe we are ready for whatever Brexit throws at us.
