Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Salary: £20,000 – £25,000 depending on experience + Benefits

Location: Normanton WF6 1RL

Reporting to:  Wastecare Compliance


Established in 1980, the Wastecare Group now employs over 500 people based at 9 regional service centres and 7 recycling facilities throughout the UK. We collect and recycle over 200,000 tonnes of hazardous and difficult waste, on behalf of over 20,000 organisations annually throughout the UK. We also own producer compliance schemes for batteries, packaging and WEEE.

  • Work as part of the Producer Compliance Team, providing a high level of customer service to scheme members
  • Deal with member enquiries in a professional and timely manner, both on the phone and by email. Ensure customer service is at the forefront at all times and record all communications
  • Collation of member’s data by category, type and weight and record accurately.
  • Analyse data, identify anomalies, interpret trends and patterns within the data sets.
  • Submit data to external regulators, meeting required deadlines
  • Ensure new membership accounts are set up correctly and processed in line with Producer Compliance Scheme policies and procedures
  • Compliance related record keeping and administrative duties
  • Arrange collections of member’s waste streams
  • Carry out data audits for members either face to face or via telephone
  • Problem solve in a methodical and professional manner, ensuring all parties are kept involved
  • Ability to spot opportunities for up selling and cross selling for other areas of the business
  • Gain knowledge from Environmental Regulations and guidance documents
  • Identify and define new process improvement opportunities

  • Experience of Word and Excel to a high standard. Full training will be given on our internal in house database.

  • Having an interest and enthusiasm for environmental, waste and recycling issues would be advantageous.
  • A sense of humour.
  • Prior knowledge of producer compliance regulations -WEEE, Battery and Packaging- would be an advantage but not necessarily essential to the right candidate.
