General Operatives

Salary/Rate: £19,760– £27,000 depending on experience (plus generous bonus scheme)

Established in 1980, the WasteCare Group now employs over 500 people based at 9 regional service centres and 8 recycling facilities throughout the UK. We collect and recycle over 200,000 tonnes of hazardous and difficult waste, on behalf of over 20,000 organisations annually throughout the UK. As a General Operative, you will develop a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise of what it takes to be at the forefront of recycling and sustainability.

Key duties include: 

  • Sorting and segregating materials for reuse and recovery
  • Loading and unloading vehicles
  • Manual handling
  • Adhering to general health & safety
  • Operating plant machinery including Forklift trucks (if applicable)
  • Assisting in other duties on site as and when required


  • Will be a self-motivated team player who is passionate about their work with a “can do” attitude
  • Must have a “hand on” approach as the working day will be varied
  • Is physically fit as this is a fast-paced role
  • Must be enthusiastic and hardworking
