Formerly named Silver Lining Industries, the company was established in 1980 recycling photographic, x-ray and printing waste for the recovery of Silver. Over the years, we have gradually expanded and evolved to recycle over 1,000 different waste streams from all commercial and industrial sectors – regardless of volume, location or type.

Now with over 400 staff, we collect and recycle over 60,000 tonnes of hazardous and difficult waste, on behalf of over 20,000 organisations annually throughout the UK.

Our growth and success has been as a result of putting our clients at the centre of our operation combined with continuous investment in innovative technology. This has enabled us to combine a deep understanding of our clients’ requirements with a uniquely flexible service that can be readily tailored to any organisational requirement, within an evolving market and ever changing regulation.

Understanding the market, focussing on our customers and leveraging our investment in technology has enabled us to provide a unique one-stop-shop solution; placing regulatory compliance, service quality and value above all else in the following ways:

Staying Ahead

Waste Management is highly regulated. We are mindful of our responsibility to guide our clients through the maze of legislation to help ensure they are compliant, as well as making sure we handle all types of waste safely, whilst adopting environmental best practice.

Making Waste Management Easy

Getting a quote, booking a collection or simply getting simple sound advice is often not so easy when dealing with waste. At WasteCare, we provide quotes for over 95% of enquiries within 2 hours, many instantly online or by phone.

We also provide free help and technical support to all our clients regardless of size or spend.

Each client has a dedicated Account Manager who specialises in their sector and is available online, via email and a dedicated phone number. Whatever your challenge or waste type, you have a single point of contact who understands your needs and requirements.

We also have a Technical Team of experts based at our Regional Service Centres, who are able to support and advise our clients both on site and remotely.

We were the first waste management company to provide online access to client accounts, provide instant quotes and enable collections to be booked online; providing full traceability, technical support and a simple, transparent charging structure.

myWaste, our unique new Waste Management App, provides secure online access via mobile phone, tablet and PC.

Improving Industry Service Levels

In the past the waste management sector has not always had the best reputation for service. In contrast WasteCare puts customer service at the forefront; where possible quotes are provided within 2 hours of request. Over 95% of collections are arranged within 5 days of request. We are so confident in our service levels that we also offer a guaranteed collection service, waiving the cost of collection should we fail to respond on time. We report back to our clients monthly on our performance against our own KPIs.

With 12 Regional Service Centres and a fleet of over 150 vehicles, we are a national waste management that is local to you.

To underpin our commitment to quality WasteCare was the first in the sector to obtain BS5750 accreditation, back in 1993, as well as the first to obtain ISO 14000 in 2001.

Making Data Accessible and Building Trust

In a sector where regulation changes quickly and non-compliance has real commercial implications, it’s important to trust your Waste Management provider. Data, legislative advice and waste recovery information should be readily accessible. That’s why we provide a free online service to all our clients enabling secure access via mobile, tablet or PC to access your account and;

  • Track their waste from collection to recovery
  • Obtain quotes for additional waste streams and services
  • Access collection data, including, volumes, recovery routes, carbon savings and recycling performance
  • Download copy invoices and statements
  • Obtain the latest advice on regulations and legislation.

Returning Value to our Clients

WasteCare are proud sponsors of the Zero Waste Awards for the third year running. The Awards underpin our focus on minimising landfill and maximising the financial return to clients from recovered metals, plastics, solvents and fibre.

We were one of the first waste management companies to fully embrace the circular economy. Returning over £5 million a year to clients for materials recovered from waste and we were the first to set up a dedicated Reuse facility for retailer take-back.

Making Producer Compliance Accessible

The WasteCare Group has the largest combined membership in the UK of producers and importers of batteries, packaging and electrical products. BatteryBack Plc, PackCare Ltd and WeeeCare Plc operate Producer Compliance Schemes offering fixed and underwritten obligation costs for their respective sectors. Being a major recycler enables us to provide low cost evidence directly to our members.
