General Waste Collection & Recovery by Wastecare

Hazardous and non-hazardous waste is a normal byproduct of hundreds of businesses and industries. The UK’s commercial waste amounts to over 27 million tonnes a year – meaning the recycling or treatment of all these waste streams is imperative to protecting the environment.

At Wastecare, we specialise in the collection and recycling of hazardous and challenging waste across the UK.

What is the difference between non-hazardous and hazardous waste?

To identify hazardous waste, it will generally exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Ignitability – combusts or burns easily.
  • Corrosivity – Can cause damage or corrode substances it comes into contact with.
  • Reactivity – May violently react or explode when it comes into contact with air, water, or other substances.
  • Toxicity – Contains or releases dangerous toxins.

General, or ‘non-hazardous’ waste, is simply waste that hasn’t been classed as hazardous.

We will help you to identify, collect, and responsibly manage your waste in line with the UK’s Waste Regulations.

Importance of compliant waste management

The Hazardous Waste Regulations (2005) require any company producing hazardous waste to segregate it in the appropriate containers, for it to be collected and treated responsibly. These collections must be carried out by a licensed hazardous waste management service such as Wastecare.

Most of the waste produced by the UK’s industrial and commercial sectors can inflict significant damage to the environment if not managed correctly. It is a company’s legal responsibility, alongside their corporate environmental responsibility, to reduce, reuse, and recycle their hazardous waste streams at all times.

We can provide advice on how to remain compliant, support in classifying your waste streams, and provide a bespoke collection solution for your company.
