Job Title: Head of Health & Safety

Location: Yorkshire based – Nationwide role
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 dependent on experience (plus company car)

Key Responsibilities

• Working in line with legislation and regulatory requirements, ensuring personnel
are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities.
• Ensure Wastecare are working in line with corporate and operational
responsibilities and objectives.
• Promoting a health and safety culture of best practice, proactive collaboration and
continuous improvement and development.
• Ensure Incidents and risk management systems are maintained, and procedures
followed throughout the organisation and carry out accident / incident
investigations in accordance with Company procedures.
• Using relevant management systems, and KPI tools, improving reporting, reduction
of LTA’s and RIDDOR.
• Audit and monitor H&S performance against legal requirements and company
expectations, making recommendations for improvement.
• Carry out regular inspections of Wastecare sites to ensure compliance and that
work is carried out in line with company policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Assist in development and the delivery relevant Health & Safety Training alongside
HR Function.
• Working with the Health, Safety & Training Manager & the Head of Quality &
Environment to maintain the Group compliance of CMS, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO
14001 & ISO 45001 systems.
• Any other duties as reasonably required

Candidate Requirements

• You will have a NEBOSH General as a minimum. NEBOSH diploma or COTC
qualifications undertaking obligatory CPD.
• Logistics and waste operational experience preferred.
• TechIOSH, GradIOSH, CMIOSH, IEMA would be desirable.
• CMS, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Management systems and audit
experience.
• Significant experience of managing Health and Safety, acting as responsible
person and bringing a culture of Health and Safety to an organisation.
• Leadership Experience of managing personnel and projects.
• Strong IT Skills with applied knowledge of Microsoft Office Platforms.
• Technical health, safety and ISO environmental knowledge, applicable to the
business and wider industry.
• Background in Waste Management or experience in being a site chemist is
desirable.
• DGSA qualification is desirable,
