When a new customer recently approached us with a problem waste stream, WasteCare pulled out all the stops to meet the challenge. Shot blast, a waste stream so obscure it didn’t feature in WasteCare’s extensive catalogue, was produced as waste when a ocean liner was stripped and re-painted.
The material description was then sent through to the WasteCare technical team who immediately carried out an analysis and classified the material as a mixture of paint and sand with hazardous contaminants. Once added to our catalogue, the best disposal route was established and the team produced a competitive price for the job.
Less than a week later, 173 tonnes of newly classified shot blast was collected and sent for treatment.
