The Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) has called upon producers to help Councils more with recycling targets. In their submission to the Local Waste Review, LARAC suggested the introduction of a new system whereby councils be financially credited by producers, manufacturers and retailers for collecting and processing waste.

The Local Waste Review will gather evidence from councils to highlight challenges and innovations in waste management and in addition will make recommendations for reducing costs.

The full findings of the Local Waste Review will be published in June.
