The Construction Recycling Alliance (CRA) has been launched to help to reduce, re-use and recycle unwanted materials in the construction industry.
The construction industry is responsible for one third of the UK’s total waste, but it is estimated that 85 per cent of this waste can be reduced, reused or recycled.
The CRA is a member organisation which will aim to support members through sharing recycling techniques and representing members’ interests at a regulatory level.
“By joining together under the CRA framework, companies will be able to effectively communicate with regulatory bodies and also improve their environmental credentials,” said CRA director David Barnes.
Companies that join the CRA will benefit from a new environmental accreditation but will need to complete a CRA assessment to ensure they share the same aims as the membership group before being allowed to become a member.
