Stourport men jailed for used cooking oil thefts

Posted on 6th January, 2013

As a result of a coordinated effort by the Waste Management and Recycling team at Wm Morrisons, led by Charles Crowther and WasteCare’s own Security Department, two “fat” thieves have this month each been sentenced to two years in prison.

The thieves have been stealing vegetable oil and chicken fat from a number of fast food outlets and supermarkets throughout the Birmingham area for over two years; impersonating WasteCare personnel, falsifying paperwork and even painting their truck silver. As a result of the quick actions of Morrison’s staff, the two thieves were apprehended in the act, for a second time last June. They had been arrested some six months earlier, stealing from a KFC outlet. To find out more click here.
